In 1955, Zenith was one of the leading brands of TVs and radios. This vintage tabletop tube radio reflects midcentury modern design with function. It would make a fantastic vintage gift for a music lover or electronics collector. Set designers will also love the realistic vintage vibes it will show on stage.
Condition: The outside case is in good condition. There are no cracks in the plastic. A small scratch is located on the top of the antique radio by the handle (see photos for details.) The original color is on the plastic with no notable touchups. It is still glossy but has some dullness to its sheen.
The original gold knobs and faceplate are in place and secure. All knobs are original and securely attached. Both the volume and the tuner move freely with no issues. When tuning to a different channel, the station dial has a light behind it. There is no light behind the volume. I'm not sure if this is broken or never existed in this model.
The creamy white handle is attached securely and works as designed. It folds down easily and comes up to be used when carrying the old portable radio.
The board on the back is in excellent condition. The label on the bottom clearly identifies the model number and specifics about the radio. The power cord is well attached with no damage identified.
There is a very slight hum when the radio is turned on but it is not major. It gives you that vintage feel of listening to a radio that is 60 plus years old!
The internal pieces have not been reviewed as I am not an expert on radios. Everything seems to be working wonderfully, with only a slight hum when not on a station. I am sure it could use a good internal cleaning and overview.
